ABOUT US
Hathorn Transfer & Storage was founded in 1948 by Edgar C. Hathorn with one used truck and one assistant. In 1951, the company became an agent for North American Van Lines and quickly grew into one of the most respected agencies in the North American system.
Edgar built the company on two principles: quality service and fair pricing. Under his leadership, Hathorn Transfer became the largest intrastate mover in Louisiana. He was later inducted into the Louisiana Household Goods Carriers’ Association Hall of Fame and remained active in both industry leadership and public service.
In 1974, Edgar’s son William D. “Bill” Hathorn joined the company as Director of Operations and later led the business for decades. During this period, Hathorn Transfer received North American’s Commitment to Excellence Award and expanded its services across Louisiana. Bill also launched Hathorn Record Management Systems (HRMS), which grew into a regional provider of secure document storage and information management for hospitals, law firms, financial institutions, and businesses throughout Louisiana and Mississippi.
Today the company continues under the leadership of the third generation. Samuel Hathorn, President, oversees the long-term direction of the company, while Katie Shirley, General Manager, manages day-to-day operations.
More than 75 years after its founding, Hathorn Transfer & Storage and Hathorn Record Management Systems remain locally owned and committed to the same principles that built the company: reliable service, fair pricing, and long-term relationships with customers across Central Louisiana.
